Feng Shui (pronounced Fung-Shway) is the ancient Chinese art of redesigning
your home to influence positive energy. The basic beliefs are that wood, fire,
metal, water, and earth elements should be evenly distributed throughout the
home to create a calm and hormonious atmosphere. To have the benefits of the
elements, you can replace elements with their colors.
Wood- The color for this element would be green. Have green objects in your home
in the place of wood. If you would rather sculpt a beautiful room with the wood
itself - try using wooden furniture, window frames, bamboo blinds or plants,
etc.
Fire- Fire's demonstrative color is designated as red. Keep the flow of the fire
element coursing through your home by burning incense, lighting candles, burning
wood in the fireplace, and so on.
Metal - White would be metal's color. When placing metal in your home, it's easy
to think antiques or vases. Try using metal candleholders, coffeetables,
chandeliers, etc.
Water- Waters colors are blue and black. Water would probably be one of the most
decorative and flexible of the Feng Shui elements. Try a miniature fountain, an
aquarium or fishbowl, a vase of flowers with water, a bowl of water with
floating candles, and this list can go on forever.
Earth- Earths color would be yellow. Not an extrordinary color to have around
the house, in my opinion. So placing earth based items in the house would be the
best option. Think clay pots, a brick fireplace, ceramic vases, try having a
centerpiece on your table with a tray filled with sand and crystals or stones,
or even candles.
Feng Shui for relationship improvement - Hang up those wedding pictures! When
you buy artwork for the home, buy them in pairs. Mirrors are recommended for
relationship Feng Shui, and the colors pink and red. Pink is the traditional
color for love, and red is the color for lust to keep the flame burning bright.
