Ginger is an excellent remedy for many digestive complaints, such as indigestion, nausea, wind and colic. It relieves travel sickness and morning sickness. Make an infusion using 1 – 2 slices of fresh Root or half a teaspoon of dried, powdered or grated Root per cup of boiling water. Leave to steep for 10 mins and drink up to 3 cups a day.
To relieve cold sores, chicken pox and shingles rub fresh Ginger over unopened sores 6 times a day.
For arthritic aches and pains dilute 5 drops of essential oil with 20 drops of carrier oil and massage into the skin.
Ginger is warming and soothing for coughs and colds and other respiratory problems. I always add some fresh Ginger to all the infusions I make for treating colds, I will post some of my favourite tried and tested cold remedies at a later date.
Ginger also stimulates the circulation and helps blood to flow to the surface, making it an important remedy for chilblains and poor circulation to the hands and feet. By improving the circulation Ginger helps high blood pressure. It also increases sweating and helps to reduce body temperature in a fever.

Magical Properties:

Used for self awareness, to stimulate energy, mental or magical work, courage, protection, success, stirs kundalini and used for love potions.
