Hydrotherapy is defined as using water for therapeutic practices. Our bodies are made up mostly of water, so we seem attracted to it like a magnet when we have an ailment.
Some examples of hydrotherapy: Using an ice pack on a hurt knee, taking a hot bath, drinking water to quench your thirst, etc.

The number of pregnant women choosing to deliver at home in a bath has increased sharply over the last few years. The warm water automatically triggers a soothing reaction to counter labor pains, and the water temperature helps absorb the weight of the woman's stomach. A baby being born into water at about 97 degrees Fahrenheit is mainly praised due to the lack of shock that the baby experiences from exiting the womb.
A hot bath can help with a large number of ailments, and using a whirlpool or Jacuzzi tub only adds to the relief. Arthritis, stress, sore muscles, back pain, and the common cold are just a few examples of what a hot bath can do for you. For ideas on what to add to a hot bath for certain causes, check out my Bath and Body section.  A cool bath can help soothe sunburns, regular burns, skin irritation, injured muscles, and help reduce fever.

Drinking water can help restore vital bodily functions if any of them were slacking off. Fluid retention can be caused by not drinking enough water, or consuming too much salt. Drinking water will flush the excess salt out of your body and lessen the water retention. Think of your body as a dehydrated flower. Our brains, kidneys, liver, all of our organs and all of our body parts use water. Drinking the recommended amount of water every day will keep your muscles, blood, and vital organs working at it's best performance.

Water is also used in fasting, as it's great for detoxification of impurities. When drinking water on a regular basis, it's recommended that you purchase a water purifier. Tap water has lead, chlorine, sulfur, and lots of other little nasties in it. Water purifiers remove the majority of the impurities of your water, leaving you a fresh clean glass of great tasting H2O.
