Massage

A good massage is a delightful treat for sore, aching muscles. Massaging is performed by rubbing, kneading, tapping, or pounding the muscle tissue being treated to work out the "knots" or tension spots that cause pain and discomfort.
If you're considering going to a masseuse, you're headed in the right direction for relief. They are fully trained and educated to treat every ache and pain in your body. When you go for the session, ask the Masseuse any questions you have and point out your most sore muscles in advance so the Masseuse can give them extra attention.
After a good massaging, your body will probably be sore the next day. This is common and it's a good thing. A little pain goes a long way for the healing process.
Another massage technique you may encounter might be a Hot Stone Massage, where the Masseuse will place heated stones on designated areas of your body to heal and soothe the pain affected areas.
But for most of us who can't afford a regular visit to a Spa or Chiropractor, we're stuck at home with a vibrating massager to soothe the aches away. These can be purchased from Wal-Mart, Target, just about anywhere.
But the best tip for buying an at-home massager you will get is to NOT be cheap! It's your body, and it's got to do the job. It will cost more to buy a bunch of massagers that won't give you any relief than it would be to buy a good massager in the first place.
There are massaging mats that you can lay on, there are vibrating cushions that can go in your car or computer chair, and there are handheld massagers. Pay close attention to what you're buying and compare the features to other massagers. You want something with a strong vibration and if possible "kneading thumbs". The best type of massager you can probably buy is a handheld wand with two "thumbs", however to be used properly you will need someone to massage your back for you. Not everyone has this luxury, so your next best option is the massaging cushion for your chair. The vibrations have to be very strong, and look for different settings such as "pulse" and different levels of intensity. If you get it home and it does nothing for you, take it back. Try and try again.
