Meditation

Meditation is a practice that has gained tremendous popularity over the last few years due to it's benefits. People of all races, ethnic origins, and religions practice Meditation.
Meditation can be used to clear your mind completely, to focus on one object or situation to discover an outcome, religious contemplation, obtain a better connection between you and your higher self, and meditating can be used for self exploration.
The aim of Meditation is usually to calm the mind. After a long stressful day at work, home with the kids, your Mother in Laws, or anything high tension a good Meditation practice should be in order to calm and relieve your anxiety.
In today's hectic world, just a sliver of mental relaxation can feel like a huge slice of Heaven.
There are many techniques to be used for the practice, and they may very well differ by your personal religion and your goals. Choose a meditation technique that you feel is right for you.

Two become One Meditation- This meditation was designated to help the conscious mind and subconscious work as one. As you practice this, you can freely communicate to your subconscious mind to achieve goals and obtain a positive mind frame. Our breathing is controlled by our subconscious mind. Although we do not have to remember to breathe, it is our subconscious that keeps the air flow through your lungs.
Sit in your favorite meditative position, or lay down. Just focus on your breathing. do not control it. Just be mentally aware of how you are breathing, observe how your subconscious controls it.
After breathing with your subconscious for about ten minutes, think of one goal. Use the goal as an affirmation. Always say "I have" or "I am" using present tense. Repeat for at least another ten minutes, and then end the session when you feel that is is complete.

Improving concentration - The goal of this exercise is to improve your concentration skills, and this will benefit you in numerous ways concerning your daily life and activities.
Sit or lay in a meditative position. Close your eyes. Count slowly from 1 to 5. Most people have a hard time getting to 3 without having a foreign thought enter their mind. Your goal for this meditation is to count to 5, concentrating ONLY on the numbers. If you catch yourself with a random thought "Hey, I made it to 5!!!", just start over. Don't waste time or effort mentally punishing yourself for subconscious chatter. When you do make it to 5, completely focused - try counting back to 1. Increase this activity from 1-10, and so on as you progress.

Relaxation: - This is a wonderful meditation to use before sleep. Lay down in a comfortable position and focus on relaxing your individual body parts from the head down or from the feet up. By consciously thinking about feeling the tension melting away from your scalp, your forehead, eyes, face, etc- you are preventing your mind from wandering onto a random topic. By the time you've relaxed your entire body, your mind easily follows suit. If you still have mental chatter about your rough day at work, repeat the process or start counting down from any number you choose. Tell yourself that with every downwards number, you are feeling more relaxed and calm. A lot of hypnotists use this technique to prep their clients to relax into a state of mental suggestion, because this meditation easily puts you into the Alpha brain frequency where your subconscious mind can hear and accept new ideas to carry over into your conscious mind. Use this relaxed state to repeat positive affirmations and visualize your goals, see the Mind Power section.
