Relaxation is the key to dealing with a stressful, physically exhausting, or emotional day. Relaxation doesn't require any knowledge of meditation, and it's the most simple way you can relieve daily anxiety, stress, physical pain, or just take time out for yourself.

You can relax while watching television, reading a book, laying in bed, sitting in a recliner, and many other tasks.

How to relax your physical body: Lay down, preferably. Just concentrate on your body as a whole, feel the circulation of the blood running through your body. Focus on your toes. Feel as if each toe is going to sleep, imagine any pain or discomfort subsiding as you work the way up your body.
Focus then on your feet and ankles, feel the circulation, and imagine your muscles, tendons, and bones relaxing. Repeat this process for the rest of your body.

Relaxing the mind: Listening to relaxing music can be extremely beneficial in calming the mind. Nature sounds, such a streams or a babbling brook are also ideal. Lay in bed, relax your physical body, and count from 50 down to one. Imagine yourself relaxing and becoming more calm from each number downward. If you don't feel relaxed by the count of one, start over again or start counting backward from a higher number.
Positive affirmations can also be a great deal of assistance in retaining a good state of mind. Think "I am calm, I am happy, I am strong". Keep all of your affirmations in the present tense, for this will tell your subconscious that it is true and it will become a reality mind frame.
Also think color therapy. Check out the Colors page to learn how to visualize with colors to induce positive and relaxing mind frames. The key process in all of these mental relaxation techniques is to slow down the thought process, to have the ability to just think of nothing for a few minutes each day. Letting your worries and fears go for just those few minutes can improve your daily life by teaching you how to counter stress.
Take a look at the Hypnosis page for information on relaxing through this process and how it can benefit your life.
