Taoism is mainly an Asian tradition and religion. The noun form of "Tao" translated from Chinese means "Path" or "Way", whereas when it is used as a verb it is translated as "Speak it out".

Taoists don't have a strict belief system, but they do believe in encounters with Ghosts or Spirits, and even Gods. There are two types of Taoism, there is Folk Taoism and also Elite Taoism. The
Folk Taoists believe they have to appease the spirits and Gods by contributing offerings, whereas Elite Taoism has the belief in controlling them through charms or talismans.
Taoism is generally a polytheistic religion, worshipping several deities. Taoists are generally open to most forms of divination including palmistry, card readings, spirit channeling, etc.
